Miss you more each day and I don't think that will ever change x

Well John, I think you now have your answer. You once said to me not so long ago that you couldn't think of anyone other than me, Johnny and Ben that would attend your funeral. I said that was nonsense and rhymed off a number of people who would go. You accepted that you were wrong and I was right (of course) but I knew you were not convinced but that was because you did not know how much you are loved. I have to admit that I had a dream before the funeral that no-one came. So, a few days ago your funeral took place and there were lots of people there to pay their respects and express their love for you. More fool both you and I for ever doubting our friends and family. The tributes were amazing which only represented how amazing you have been in our lives. I love and miss you in equal measure.

There are no words that can express what uncle John means to me… As most people know I wasn’t raised with a father but I never needed one, I had all I needed in uncle John. I remember when ever I came to visit him I would go with him into his garage and watch/help him work on one of his cars. At the time the work didn’t mean much to me only spending time with uncle John was the highlight. Only now as an adult I can appreciate what I learned and the inspiration he was to me. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be the man I am today if it wasn’t for spending those moments together in his garage and listening to his stories. I don’t think he knew what kind of impact he had on my life and I regret letting him know it while I could. Time is the most precious commodity and every second spent with uncle John was time well spent. Love you Uncle John and will miss you always x

I can’t be with you on Wednesday John, but will certainly be with you in spirit, and will raise a glass for you. Rest In Peace my friend. It’s been a pleasure to know you.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
